hair extensions after care

How do I care for my Hair Extensions?

You look after Hair Extensions the same as you would do long hair that you grew yourself. Here are a few tips:

  • Shampoo, Condition and MOISTURIZE (very important) your hair every 1-2 days. It is best to use a Sulfate free shampoo. The extensions do not receive your natural scalp oils and need to have moisture added every wash. We recommend that you only use the best hair products for your hair extensions.
  • Treat them with respect. They will not grow back if you yank at them with a brush, burn them with a blow dryer, or damage them with chemicals. Be nice to them- they cost a lot of money so make sure you get your money’s worth.
  • Always brush out all the knots before you wash your hair, swim, or sleep. Start at the bottom and work your way up slowly using a paddle brush.

Instructions For Care of Dreamcatchers/ Hair Lock System

Daily Care:

The Client must ease out any tangles or any matting around the beads once a day, as demonstrated by your Supplier Consultant and/ or Stylist. If this is not done, serious matting can develop. Removing such matting may cause damage to the Dreamcatchers/ Hair Locks and the Clients own hair.

Washing and Styling:

The Client must follow the directions provided by the Supplier Consultant and/ or Stylist and only use the products approved by your Consultant and/ or Stylist in order to prevent damage to the Dreamcatchers/ Hair Locks and the Clients own hair.

Coloring and Perming:

Serious damage may be caused to your own hair and the Dreamcatchers/Hair Locks by chemical treatment at home, or by hairdressers not familiar with Dreamcatchers/ Hair Locks. This is because color or perming chemicals may be trapped in the Micro-cylinders, where they can continue to chemically affect and possible damage the Dreamcatcher/ Hair Locks and your own hair. All chemical treatments of your hair should be carried out at the Supplier Studio or Salon, or by a professional hairdresser approved by your Supplier Consultant and/or Stylist as competent to treat Dreamcatchers/ Hair Locks. The range of color changes possible to Dreamcatchers/ Hair Locks is limited by certain chemical factors understood by your Suppliers and/ or Stylist.

Cutting:

Hairdressers not familiar with Dreamcatchers/Hair Locks may damage it by cutting it too short, or by incorrect technique. Before having your hair and Dreamcatcher/ Hair Locks cut by a hairdresser who is not a Supplier Consultant and or Stylist, you must ask your non-Supplier hairdresser to contact your Supplier Consultant and/ or Stylist to discuss the proposed style.

Brushing Technique:

Brushing must only be carried out by using the proper brush supplied by The Supplier (or equivalent).

Swimming:

When Swimming it is advisable to plait your Dreamcatchers/ Hair Locks as this will prevent knotting. Always remember to rinse he Chlorine or salt water out of your Dreamcatchers/ Hair Locks after swimming and apply a good conditioner or detangling spray.

Sleeping:

It is Advisable to loosely plait or ponytail the hair when sleeping. We recommend you make extensive use of a silk pillowcase. This smooth silky surface is non-abrasive and will assist in taking care of your Dreamcatchers/ Hair Locks while sleeping.

Dreamcatchers/ Hair Locks After care and Maintenance Program:

As your hair grows, the attachment cylinders attaching the Dreamcatchers/ Hair Locks will move further away from your head with your hair. This can increase the traction on your own hair. It is necessary for you to return to your Supplier/ Stylist every 4-6 weeks, or as advised to your Supplier Consultant and or Stylist to have the attachment cylinders return to their original position or replaced. Failure to do this may result in tangling and/ or loss of some of your own hair. Should you require assistance in styling you may return to your stylist you may return to your Stylist within 1 week of the initial fitting date to assist with any inquires you may have. This will also determine the suitable forward care regime at home and with the Supplier/ Stylist. It is essential that you call your Supplier Consultant and/ or Stylist if you have any questions.
